“With my whole heart, with my whole life, and with my innermost being, I bow in wonder and love before you, the holy God! Yahweh, you are my soul’s celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you’ve done for me? You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I’ve done. You’ve healed me inside and out from every disease. You’ve rescued me from hell and saved my life. You’ve crowned me with love and mercy. You satisfy my every desire with good things. You’ve supercharged my life so that I soar again like a flying eagle in the sky! You’re a God who makes things right, giving justice to the defenseless. You unveiled to Moses your plans and showed Israel’s sons what you could do. Lord, you’re so kind and tenderhearted to those who don’t deserve it and so patient with people who fail you! Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness. You don’t look at us only to find our faults, just so that you can hold a grudge against us. You may discipline us for our many sins, but never as much as we really deserve. Nor do you get even with us for what we’ve done. Higher than the highest heavens— that’s how high your tender mercy extends! Greater than the grandeur of heaven above is the greatness of your loyal love, towering over all who fear you and bow down before you! Farther than from a sunrise to a sunset— that’s how far you’ve removed our guilt from us. The same way a loving father feels toward his children— that’s but a sample of your tender feelings toward us, your beloved children, who live in awe of you. You know all about us, inside and out. You are mindful that we’re made from dust. Our days are so few, and our momentary beauty so swiftly fades away! Then all of a sudden we’re gone, like grass clippings blown away in a gust of wind, taken away to our appointment with death, leaving nothing to show that we were here. But Lord, your endless love stretches from one eternity to the other, unbroken and unrelenting toward those who fear you and those who bow facedown in awe before you. Your faithfulness to keep every gracious promise you’ve made passes from parents, to children, to grandchildren, and beyond. You are faithful to all those who follow your ways and keep your word. God’s heavenly throne is eternal, secure, and strong, and his sovereignty rules the entire universe. So bless the Lord, all his messengers of power, for you are his mighty heroes who listen intently to the voice of his word to do it. Bless and praise the Lord, you mighty warriors, ministers who serve him well and fulfill his desires. I will bless and praise the Lord with my whole heart! Let all his works throughout the earth, wherever his dominion stretches, let everything bless the Lord!”
Psalms 103:1-22 TPT
Go ahead catch your breath! Isn’t He wonderful? Isn’t He precious? Isn’t He just so amazing? Words cannot describe all that He is and all that He does! So, WOW! My Daddy is awesome! Everything we need is found in David’s Psalm of praise. He David had a personal encounter with the God of this Song. And we can too. If you haven’t experienced the things you just read as His child, may I ask a question? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Or here’s the bigger question. WHO IS YOUR DADDY?
From the beginning of the Psalm we find David telling his soul to bless the Lord, he reminds his soul to remember the benefits of Yahweh. If you’re a child of God you have experienced one or all of these benefits. Let’s highlight a few; forgiveness, healing, redemption, love, compassion, provision, renewal of life, righteousness, justice for the oppressed. He’s slow to anger. Has not given us the full force of the punishment we deserve. That alone is reason to say WOW! We didn’t receive the full force of His deserved wrath because He places it on His sinless, spotless Son, Jesus Christ. Another reason to say WOW!
Here’s another WOW. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him. (11) WOW! Do you fear Him? Then you have come to Endless Love. Not the song. That’s more lust than love. Just words with a nice melody. This love cant be harnessed or measured. Then David takes it a step further. As far as the East is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. (12) WOW! Are you burdened by the guilt of your past? Have you repented? Then you have your answer. If you can get East and west to meet at the same place then you can carry your guilt. But as far as David is concerned, and he should know, the transgressions cannot meet the forgiveness of God. It’s gone. WOW!
In verses 13 &14 we find another WOW! Please note that He’s not being compared to our earthly father. It’s still speaking of Him. We could read it like this, As a Father, (He) has compassion on His children, so (He) the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He, (the compassionate One) knows how we are formed, He (who forms us) remembers that we are dust. WOW! While we’re freaking out about another mess we’ve gotten ourselves into, He’s saying, “I’ve got you.” Just don’t forget, He’s already provided forgiveness for your past, present and future sins. Don’t let the enemy beat you up, confess, receive forgiveness, and continue to bless the Lord. The more you recognize the benefits you have, the less you’ll want to sin and the more you’ll fear Him. But when you do transgress, don’t wallow in self pity, remember the height and depth of His love. (11) WOW!
As you continue reading we discover even more reasons to say, WOW! Even though our life here on earth is brief, and we become a distant memory to some, David writes, “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children, with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey his precepts.” (17-18) let’s unpack these verses.
Not only are we who fear Him loved for eternity (everlastingly) but He extends His righteousness to our children and grandchildren if we teach them His covenant and precepts. If we model through our lives the reverential fear of God, and our children and their children carry our legacy of fear and faith in God, they also reap. WOW! Where did we read that before? Genesis 26. Abraham’s obedience and faith, passed on to Isaac, allowed God to release His covenant with Abraham to Isaac as well. The importance of handing off our faith to our children, will impact generations. WOW!
David closes the chapter admonishing all God’s creation to praise Him! Then he reminds his soul to praise the Lord as well. He began with praise and ends with praise. That’s how we’re to begin and end our day. That’s how we begin and end our quiet moments with Daddy. Bless the Lord o my soul! And all that is within me, every thing that makes me me, bless His Name! And don’t forget not one of His benefits. What has He done for you today? Bless Him! Recall His goodness towards you and tell your soul to bless Him! It doesn’t matter what you’re going through or how you’re feeling! BLESS THE LORD! I lost my first nephew on September 5, 2020 to cancer. But I will bless the Lord through my tears! He is worthy to be praised! He is forever faithful! He’s never failed me not one time! I remember His benefits to me and my nephew Denver! We don’t get to choose our departure, but we do get to choose our destination. Rest In Peace my love until we meet again!
Bless the Lord O my soul! WOW!
Father! I will bless you at all times! Your praise will continually be in my mouth! How blessed I am to know that Your love never fails. How privileged I am to be in Your family, Jesus my forever Intercessor, my sweetest of all loves. Thank You for never treating me the way my sin deserves. Thank you Jesus for taking the full force of all my transgressions past present and future. I love you with every breath. WOW!
