“Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.”
Genesis 9:1-3 NIV
First we lost dominion through Adam’s disobedience. Then God started all over with Noah’s family, giving them the same authority He had given their forefather. Everything was to be subject to them. All created things was to feel the fear of man. The flood had wiped everything out. All that remained with breath within it, was what found safety in the ark. They were all subject to Noah and his family. What happened? The heart happened.
Noah was still a righteous man. His children were spared death because of his blameless walk before God. But something shifted when mankind began increasing in the earth. The flood didn’t change the sin nature of man. Genesis 11, gives us a clear picture of what changed. Whenever man seeks to find their own path to God, instead of seeking Him His way, it never ends well. Rebellion, no matter what form it takes, will eventually change the natural order of a individual, family, state, city, nation and church. No wonder God said through Samuel that it’s likened to the sin of witchcraft. The heart and minds of the individuals have been bewitched. Satan is always looking for ways to get us to rebel against God.
God used languages to break up the rebellion, scattering men all over the earth. Genesis 11. Then He called Abram, Genesis 12, another attempt at separating a people group He could manifest His glory in, who would teach other nations about Him. They were supposed to show the world by example who the One True God is. Instead, they joined them by engaging in their abhorrent behavior. Proving once again, that the will of man without the heart of God was hopeless. Until the fullness of time, Man would forever operate in the sin nature until a permanent solution was found.
What amazes me is the long suffering of a Holy God. Over and over again He would give us opportunities to walk in the dominion He had given us, and time after time, we would give it away through disobedience. We are indeed creatures of habit- if only they were good ones. Generation after generation, still making the same mistakes. To keep from wiping us out again, He came up with a temporary solution: The blood of atonement. Leviticus 17:11. He’d forgive we’d sin, He’d forgive, we’d sin some more. We had a heart disease called sin, and only the blood of a true Spotless Lamb would provide the eternal cure. So we read these words.
“Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had. They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set. And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. But when the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent Him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that He could adopt us as His very own children. And because we are His children, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are His child, God has made you His heir.”
Galatians 4:1-7 NLT
Yes my friends! We were perpetual slaves to the Adamic nature. The flood couldn’t wash it away, the blood of sheep and goats couldn’t wash it away. In order to regain the authority we once had, the Lamb of God had to be sacrificed. The power and authority we now have is not over creation, but over spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12. We have authority according to Luke 10:19 over serpents which is the devil and his cohorts. We have authority to bind and loose with the backing of heaven. Matthew 16:19; Matthew 18:18 if Jesus repeated it twice it’s worth paying attention to. We have been given authority. But this time it’s with a changed heart. We have been given power to lay hands on the sick, and cast out demons. Mark 16:17-18. We have been given authority to do greater works than what Jesus did on earth because of the power of the Holy Spirit resident on the inside of every believer. John 14
We may have forfeited the authority we were given through sin and disobedience, but because of Jesus Christ we have been given a better covenant with better promises. Hebrews 8. We are joint heirs with Christ, seated in heavenly places with Him. Romans 8:17; Ephesians 2:6. We have more power in our pinky finger, than Satan has in his entire body, but we, like our forefathers have failed to walk in it. Sickness and disease is not a love token or testing from God. He doesn’t have or give sicknesses! He heals them! Use your God given authority in the Name of Jesus to rebuke the spirit of infirmity! Faith without corresponding action is dead! Stop talking about whatever the attack is, and exercise your authority over it!
Whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven. If we say to the mountain be removed and do not doubt in our hearts, the mountain of sickness, debt, depression, addiction you name it, it must obey you, In the Name of Jesus! Not in your name, His Name! There’s your authority, there’s your power. Ask in His Name! He told us to. I’m a living witness that His Name changes things. Where did you lose your authority?
