“Jerusalem (put your name in place of Jerusalem) will be told: Don’t be afraid dear Zion (Winsome), don’t despair. Your God is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you. Happy to have you back, He’ll calm you with His love and delight you with His songs.” Another translation says that last line this way, “ He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3: 16-17 MSG/NIV
GOOD MORNING!! Rise and Shine!! Your God is singing over you! You don’t want to miss it! Wake up! You must be thinking. “This girl is crazy!” Well I just may be. But not in the way you’re thinking, I’m crazy in love with the Godhead! Father, Son, Holy Spirit and you should be too!
We serve a God who sings over us: using His songs to renew us after we have rebelled against Him, being slow to repent and frankly arrogant in our sinning. Whenever a sinner or backslider returns home, our God sings! Have you ever had the privilege of hearing the Lover of your soul sing over you? You don’t need to be a prodigal to hear Him, but you must admit that’s pretty cool right? Instead of judgment, which we deserve, we hear our Righteous Judge singing: “Welcome home son/daughter, what took you so long?”
I’ve experienced God’s singing voice. Waking up early in the morning. Going through my day. In a hospital bed. In a tight spot. Name it. I’ve heard Him break out in singing. It will put the biggest smile on your face and melt your heart. I can see some of you nodding your heads in agreement and others saying “what in the world!” Lol Yes! God sings. You’ve probably heard Him and just were too caught up in what’s going on around you and missed the performance of a lifetime.
Israel had turned their back on God. I could say America has turned her back on God. She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God. Her politicians (officials) within her are roaring lions; her rulers are evening wolves, who leave nothing for the morning. Her prophets (preachers) are unprincipled; they are treacherous people. Her priests profane the sanctuary and do violence to the law. Sound about right? Well that came straight out of the Bible. Surprised? Zephaniah 3:2-4 All that, yet God sings.
Who wouldn’t serve a God like that? In Psalm 103:8-10 we read, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve (thank you Jesus!) or repay us according to our iniquities.”
That’s the God I serve. Do you know Him like that? Would you like to? He’s waiting patiently to sing over you, to rejoice over you with shouts of joy. If you know Him like that then you understand. If you don’t, but would like to. You all have my information. It would be my honor to introduce you to The One who makes me smile. Some of you are going to fall off the train right now when I share what He’s singing to me right now. This is the line I’m hearing. “This is dedicated to the one I love.” Surprised? Where did music come from? I rest my case. The enemy may have perverted music but he was not the originator of it.
Yes! This writing is dedicated to the One I love! In spite of me He loves me and sings over and to me. He’s doing it now. Do you hear Him? I’m hearing another song. The words go like this. “Ours is a love song, You sing it over me, I’m singing back to You!”
Sweet Jesus, sweet Jesus! What a wonder You are! My heart is overwhelmed by how much you love me! Thank you for not giving me what I deserved. I do not deserve a song, I deserved your wrath. But in your loving kindness you have drawn me. Thank you! A thousand times thank you! For being good to me! I quiet my soul to hear you singing and sing back to you.....Amen
He’s singing.... quiet the noise, can you hear Him? What’s your refrain?
