3/5/21 - HOW BIG IS YOUR GOD?

“Who else has held the oceans in His hand? Who has measured off the heavens with His fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give Him advice or teach Him? Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does He need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach Him what is right or show Him the path of justice? No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. All the wood in Lebanon’s forests and all Lebanon’s animals would not be enough to make a burnt offering worthy of our God. The nations of the world are worth nothing to Him. In His eyes they count for less than nothing— mere emptiness and froth. To whom can you compare God? What image can you find to resemble Him?

“To whom will you compare Me? Who is My equal?” asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of His great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the Everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:12-18, 25-26, 28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in His fists? Who wraps up the oceans in His cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is His Name—and His Son’s name? Tell me if you know!” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow! The line to a song comes to mind. “And all will see, how great is our God!” Do you know this God of which Isaiah and Agur speaks? Have you encountered Him? Are you acquainted with His ways? Do you believe what He’s said about Himself through the prophet? Our experiences with Him, will be determined by our core beliefs in His Word and our understanding of His magnificence. Our incredible God is amazingly awesome! Hallelujah!!

How big is your God? Again, that question cannot be randomly answered with religious jargon or rehearsed words. But must be responded to from a heart and spirit that completely adheres to and believes beyond the shadow of a doubt, that everything He says about Himself is true. Have you grasped the weight of the questions He’s posed? “To whom will you compare Me”? Let’s examine that question. It’s a fair one. Who have you been comparing God to? Have you been comparing Him to your problems? Your relationships? Your failures? Do you see Him as your answer, or a part of your problem? We say things like, if God is so good, if He’s sovereign, then why am I going through this? Why is the world so evil? We’ve reduced Him to the problems we’re facing, why? Because we don’t really know or understand who He really is.

He continues. Who is My equal? Go back to verse 12 of Isaiah 40. He begins with a list of questions that no other god can ask or answer. Evolution is but a myth. God, our Creator boasts some amazing credentials. I heard a preacher ask, “why would you worry or be depressed when you know these things about your God”? I concur. They’re my sentiments exactly. Have you read the resume of God? The first question blows my finite mind. Read it with me; “Who has held the oceans in his hands”? My big God has!Has yours? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? My big God has! Has yours? Who else knows the weight of the earth, or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? My big God has! Has yours? Get a hold of this one. He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. Drop the mic! My Big God did! Did yours? I would continue but you’re reading it. And I pray you’re getting the magnitude of it all.

We should be ashamed to call ourselves His children, no wait! He should be ashamed to own us. Why are we wringing our hands and freaking out about what’s going on around us? Why are we stressing over money? Why are we unhealthy? Why are we depressed? Why are we complaining? Who’s our God? And how Big is He? We should be the most stress free, joyful people on earth. If our earthly fathers had an ounce of what our Heavenly Father possesses, we’d be bragging about him. Well guess what he doesn’t, but our Big God is everything He says He is, can and has done everything He’s written about, and will continue to be faithful to do it again!

Do you know what our problem is? We lie against the Truth. We lie about believing His Word, we lie about trusting Him, we lie about believing that He is able to supply our need, we lie about believing He heals today, we lie about Him being our Father. We just plain lie! If we believed the things we spout off religiously, we’d be a powerful force in the earth. But the fact of the matter is. We’re not convinced that our God is Big. You may be saying, “but I do believe that “ then prove it! Prove it by living it! Our lives reflect what we believe and know of Him. If there’s a but in your belief system, your testimony is voided.

Look at Proverbs 30:4. Sounds exactly like Isaiah doesn’t it? God is always having to remind us of who He is. Why are we willing to settle for substitutes when we have everything we need in our Big God? He asks us to identify who created the whole world. He said, tell Me what is His Name, and His Son’s Name? Tell Me if you know it! This is Old Testament people! Our Big God wants us to respond to His question. Do you know who they are? Can you because of your intimate relationship with Him, answer His question? Is He your God? Is His Son Jesus Christ, your Lord? Then why aren’t we living confidently if we know these truths? Why have we made them so small through unbelief? Answer. A lack of fellowship.

He has said no weapon formed against us will prosper. Notice what He didn’t say, that the weapon wouldn’t be formed. He said by His wounds we were, past tense healed, He didn’t say sickness wouldn’t come. He said He shall supply all our need. He didn’t say we wouldn’t have needs. He said we don’t have to fear. He didn’t say fear wouldn’t come. But, He also said we’re more than conquerors through Christ. This tells me that nothing I’ve mentioned has the right to remain in our lives. We don’t deny none of the things I mentioned, we deny their right to stick around. Our God is Bigger than all the things we’ll face. Then why do we make the problems bigger and Him smaller. I’ll say it again. Because we’re liars. We don’t believe what we say.

How big is your God? He’s as big as your faith to believe that He weighs the mountains and hills in His scales, held the oceans in His hands, measured off the heavens with His fingers, knows the weight of the earth, He picks up the whole earth like a grain of sand, holds the wind in His fists, knows the stars by name, needs no instructions. The depth of His understanding is immeasurable and He wraps up the ocean in His cloak. He is the Everlasting God! The Creator of the whole earth. Do you know His Name, or His Son’s Name! Shout it out! Our Big God is I AM that I AM! His Son’s Name is Jesus the Christ! Are you convinced? Then show it! By living in its truths. Prove it! Prove to yourself and a watching world that your God is Big!

“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The Lord has spoken!”🙏
