“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
John 10:10 AMPC
Are you in need of a spiritual dust up, or a deep cleaning? Feeling a little weighted down by life?
They say if you keep your home organized and maintained all you’ll need from time to time is a little light dusting and a few minor repairs. But the opposite is also true. If you don’t do regular maintenance and cleaning then your home, as well as your spiritual life, will fall into disrepair and the cost is much greater to bring things back in order.
That little knocking you hear in your car that you have ignored may be as simple as changing the oil or checking the fluids. Ignore it and you’ll need a new transmission, engine or a new car. Well that little knocking you’re hearing or sensing in your spirit, that you have been pushing past, may be the difference between soul wreck or a spiritual tune up.
There’s good news though. Jesus wants to start a revival in you. Are you ready? Our scripture verse above tells us that Jesus has come to give us abundant life. As a matter of fact He said more abundantly. That’s more than a dust up, that’s a soul revival. Knowing we have been given abundant life should make us live our Christian life to the fullest. What most people without Christ call living is mere existence. Life apart from Jesus isn’t real life at all, or Jesus wouldn’t have said He came that we might have life in abundance, here and for all eternity. Shout hallelujah somebody!!
Revival begins when we receive the Living Word. Jesus said this about those who not only hear, but receive His Word:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.”
John 5:24-25 NKJV
Jesus was speaking of both the spiritually and physically dead. This is what He said at the tomb of Lazarus while speaking to Martha. And this is what the apostle wrote in reference to our spiritual deadness.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”John 11:25-26, 40 NKJV
“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:1, 4-7 NKJV
If that isn’t revival I don’t know what is! Do you think when the widow of Nain received her son back to life that she went back to business as usual? Do you think that Jairus’ life was ever the same after his daughter was raised from the dead? Do you think Dorcas was raised to the same life she had? Or the centurion’s servant? Not on your life! Jesus brought revival to every life He touched. Think of Zacchaeus, Paul, Peter, John, Stephen, the woman at the well, these were world changers. They are still impacting our lives by the legacy they have left. Think about the man born blind, he became radical for Christ. He schooled the Pharisees after his healing revival. So did the demonic who Jesus told to go to his hometown and tell what great things the Lord had done for him. Do you think he was passive about what had been done in him? Revival came to that graveyard that day.
“The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.” They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.”John 9:30-34 NKJV
“The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?””
John 4:28-29 NKJV
“Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.”Luke 8:38-39 NKJV
Our idea of revival is attending recycling meetings and listening to one preacher after the other for a week. Pumped up only to deflate after the services are over. But if we’ve encountered Jesus, we’d be telling everyone we meet about Him. We’d not worry about what people think or whether they will hear what we have to say. We wouldn’t be ashamed to speak up when we hear people blaspheming His Name, or twisting His Word. We wouldn’t want to hide our light. We wouldn’t want to blend in with the crowd. We’d be the most joyful people on the planet. We’d be on fire for Jesus. Biblical revival brought thousands to faith in Jesus, it also brought persecution. But because the revival was from Jesus they rejoiced considering themselves blessed to be counted worthy to suffer for Him.
Do we want Jesus to start a revival in us? Or are we satisfied with the status quo? Do we want more or is being saved from hell enough? Are we willing to go deeper no matter the personal cost? I don’t know about you, but I have a dissatisfied satisfaction. I don’t want to be in the same place spiritually as I was last year or even last night. I need a Jesus revival. I want the more abundantly life He has promised. I want to make a difference for the kingdom of God. I want to see His Kingdom come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I want to see the dead raised, the sick healed, the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear and the dumb speak. I want to see the captives set free by the power of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus! I want to do more than see it, I want to be the one doing these things in Jesus Name.
So I pray, Jesus, start a revival in me! You said we would do greater works. John 14:12. That believers would lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18. That if we believe we can speak to the mountain Mark 11:23. Start a revival in me Jesus! Remove every hindrance that stands in the way of Your perfect will for my life. Let your Spirit of wisdom operate in every area of my life, teach me to walk always in integrity and godly character, grant boldness and courage to your servant, that I may please you in all I do in Your Name. Let every dead apathetic area spring forth with new life Jesus, start a revival in me!
Is this your prayer too?
We need a Holy Ghost fire revival. The Christianity today is just a religious experience in futility. We get high on the music, stirred by the preacher while in the building but the drug wears off once we walk out of the building. We don’t need another meeting, we need a fresh anointing. We need to rediscover the passion and joy we once had when we first met our Savior. Only you know where you are spiritually. He will never give you what you don’t desire. But if you’ll ask, He will come just like He did on the day of Pentecost and your life will never be the same. You’ll never be normal another day in your life. Let Jesus start a revival in you.🙏
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
