12/21/21-MAKING TIME FOR HIS PRESENCE

“O God of my life, I’m lovesick for You in this weary wilderness. I thirst with the deepest longings to love You more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described. Such yearning grips my soul for You, my God! I’m energized every time I enter your heavenly sanctuary to seek more of Your power and drink in more of Your glory. For Your tender mercies mean more to me than life itself. How I love and praise You, God! Daily I will worship You passionately and with all my heart. My arms will wave to You like banners of praise. I overflow with praise when I come before You, for the anointing of Your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul. I lie awake each night thinking of You and reflecting on how You help me like a father. I sing through the night under Your splendor-shadow, offering up to You my songs of delight and joy! With passion I pursue and cling to You. Because I feel Your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to Your heart.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭63:1-8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The words of a song come to mind as I read these verses: The cry of my heart is to love you more, to live with the touch of Your hands. Stronger each day, show me Your Way! Hillsong.

David wrote this Psalm while in the wilderness of Judah. Probably while running from his own son Absolom. This is only possible when an individual makes time for glorious moments with Yahweh. I can’t say this would’ve been my first response while running for my life. It would probably be verse 9-10. But a heart in constant fellowship and communion with the Lord worships first. We’ve got so much to learn about surrendering. David was as sold out as they come. Yahweh was his everything.

He was the one who asked, “Where can I go from Your presence?” Or “Where does my help come from?” He was centered in his belief that Yahweh was his only help. He had made time as a shepherd boy to discover who this great God was. He has taught us the joy of intimacy with God by daily making time to be alone with Him. Even the Psalm written in the worst of times, his connection through worship is evident. His thoughts were always towards Yahweh. Where do we see ourselves in light of the verses we’ve read?

In making time for Him do we experience this soul thirst and longing for more of Him? Can we honestly say we have encountered the Lord at this depth? Have you been there but aren’t there now? Has the hustle and bustle of life robbed you of the closeness you once had? You’re saved, you haven’t backslidden, you’re still His child. But is your life dry and spiritually dull at the moment? Then let’s take a moment and read the verses again. But this time don’t read it as someone else’s words. Make them personal. Read them to Him as though you wrote them-if

this is truly your desire as you make or set aside time for Him. Then allow the Holy Spirit to reignite the passion you once had. Let the embers of your soul be fanned into a flame. Then say with outstretched and uplifted hands:

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You!

Now write your own psalm, and pour your love on Him. Feel Him receiving your worship, sensing your heart moving closer to His. Because you have made time for Him, He has made time for you. That which was dry and forced has been watered by His presence. Hold nothing back. Lavish Him with your worship. You’re one with Him now. He’s not just showing you His glory, He’s filling and surrounding you with His wraparound love. Enjoy your glorious moment.

“My heart, O God, is quiet and confident. Now I can sing with passion Your wonderful praises! Awake, O my soul, with the music of His splendor-song! Arise, my soul, and sing His praises! My worship will awaken the dawn, greeting the daybreak with my songs of praise! Wherever I go, I will thank You, my God. Among all the nations they will hear my praise songs to You. Your love is so extravagant it reaches to the heavens; Your faithfulness so astonishing it stretches to the sky!” Psalms‬ ‭57:7-10‬ ‭TPT‬‬
