No, I’m not speaking about the prescribed medication the doctor has suggested we take, but rather the One most neglected by many. The Word of God. The one we really cannot live without, especially if you are a child of God. I shared in one of my earlier messages of Sheri’s Nana (babysitter) who had been a member of her church for 50 years, served faithfully in her auxiliary, but never opened her Bible. Christians are suffering from a Word deficiency, and until we give God’s Word the priority it deserves we will remain ignorant and malnourished.
So do you need a refill? Has your prescription ran out or is low? Let’s do something about that shall we? This is the only prescription on which you can never overdose. As a matter of fact, the more of it you take, the stronger, healthier and wiser you’ll become. It will create an insatiable appetite for more of Him. It’s comfort food of the highest quality. It’s a warm blanket on a cold night and a refreshing breeze on a hot day. It’s like refreshing water to a thirsty soul. Neglecting its endless benefits is not only unwise but dangerous. So if you’ve been feeling spiritually rundown lately, maybe it’s due to missed doses.
With most prescriptions, if you miss a dose they say don’t double up, with this one you may double or even triple the dosage. Remember you can’t overdose, the more you take of it the better you’ll actually feel. The Holy Spirit who administers the prescription knows exactly where you need to start and He’s ready to nurse you back to spiritual health. So grab your water and your Bible, some of you may need an IV but He’s never lost a patient. So let’s begin the process of getting back to what keeps us spiritually, mentally, emotionally, socially and physically strong.
“Therefore, say to the people, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’”
Zechariah 1:3 NLT
“When I discovered Your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear Your Name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.”
Jeremiah 15:16 NLT
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to My Words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT
“He sent out His Word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.”
Psalms 107:20 NLT
“So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.”
Exodus 23:25 NKJV
“How sweet Your Words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.
Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
Psalms 119:103, 105 NLT
Are you beginning to feel your strength returning? Feeling more energized? Depending on how many doses you have missed, it may take a while to acclimate your system to how you once felt about the value of not missing your daily doses. But keep reading. Your Great Physician and His Helper, the Holy Spirit will see you through the process to wholeness. Don’t give in to the voices that distract.
“Ask Me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
Jeremiah 33:3 NLT
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
“Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself.”
Jeremiah 31:3 NLT
“The eternal God is your refuge, and His everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; He cries out, ‘Destroy them!’”
Deuteronomy 33:27
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 NLT
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His Holy Name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”
Psalms 103:1-5 NLT
“My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.”
Psalms 73:26 NLT
You should be able to move about unassisted now. As you continue taking the prescribed Word you should be back to your once spiritually robust self. For He has said He will never leave you. Your spiritual Advocate has been given a command never to abandon His post. He will be in you and with you forever. John 14:16.
Dear Heavenly Father,
“Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide. Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws. I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments. I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to Your Word. I haven’t turned away from Your regulations, for You have taught me well.”
Psalms 119:97-102 Amen 🙏
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to Me. I will refresh your life, for I AM your oasis. Simply join your life with Mine. Learn My ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in Me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”
