Are you ready to be blown away? Are you a candidate for some great news? Can you use or handle a perspective that stands up against everything you’ve been feeding yourself through the current events of this life? Are you prepared for some real rest? Then look no further than the Psalm above. It is backed up and supported by the Creator of the universe. Open your hearts to receive and be blessed. Taste every word, let it wash over your wearied minds. Embrace its truths and be refreshed.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalms 121:1-8 NIV
Can you spot all the promises interwoven throughout the Psalm? Do they identify some areas of worry or concern in your life? Do you lie awake worried and anxious about what may or may not happen? Fretting about things over which you have little control? Losing precious sleep, wasting valuable time, time you have so little of? Your answer is as close as the reading of this psalm. I’ll highlight some of the standout assurances. The Word of God is all you need for whatever you face. Psalm 37:8 says fretting leads to evil. It causes us to take matters into our own hands, which oftentimes makes the situation worse.
Trusting the Lord and His promises brings welcomed peace and rest-who couldn’t use that in the age of uncertainty in which the whole world has been plunged? But WE, the people of God, though not exempt from the situations around us, can face them with quiet strength, and confidence. Why? He never sleeps nor slumbers, so that we can rest securely in Him. Our answers to ALL of life’s problems can be found in His Word. You need to be assured and confident in that reality. It is a Truth that has yet to fail.
Tune out the things that create worrying and tune into the Good News. The Lord watches over you, He keeps you from ALL harm, He watches over your life. Do you believe that? Then begin to speak and meditate upon the truth you know. Your help doesn’t come from the hills (people or government) your help comes from THE LORD who knows everything about you, every step you’ll take, every twist and turn.
Go ahead! Read the Psalm slowly and meditatively. Reflect on His goodness to you in the past. Has He ever failed you? Then why would He start now? He’s nearer now than ever before. But you have allowed the cares of this world to overwhelm you. What you had was beautiful, it can be that way again. Your Maker awaits. Rekindle the flame of trust you once had. He’s always the same even when we’re not. Pick up where you left off, run to the shade of His presence. Get your peace and rest back. When you do, He’ll use you to help others discover what you’ve found.🙏
